Concepts: Mazda1 and RX-7

Mazda is gearing up for the Paris Motor Show (Mondial de l’Automobile) with the promise of a Mazda1 concept model. This “city car concept” takes its cue from the Mazda2, a smaller “city” vehicle with high gas mileage and a growing number of satisfied drivers worldwide.

Mazda1, beginning its production run in 2010, will be the first car utilizing Mazda’s Nagare designs – which will be how future vehicles from the Japanese auto maker will look, including the 2010 Mazda3. Expect the Mazda1 to have great gas mileage as well. Mazda1 will most likely take over the European market, mostly due to its size (can’t wait to see the specs) but cross your fingers these tiny Mazdas will come to North America.

Mazda’s 2006 Kabura concept is slated to be the most likely design for a 2010 RX-7, according to Consumer Guide’s Automotive section on HowStuffWorks.com. More rumors surrounding the 7 is that it will be a replacement for the RX-8, and will have a hybrid engine ready to pump high-speed, low emission rpms to the Japan streets (and eventually, the world).

  1. ok i see that its like a rx-8 hatchback but it’s a real nice on the curves. i know that this is a concept but the seat you can take out of the rx-8 and put them in but give it a little twist to it. make the seat a little more sporty and wild great work im a real big fan of mazda and it a real good concept perfect it a little more and make me scream that i want this car. and you can get big sales from this concept.

  2. hay this car looks kool an all but it looks like the rx8
the reson i love the rx7 is because of the looks and the engine

this car looks to much ahead in time
    just dosent look right

  3. how much does it cost

  4. what they need to do is to not forget about all the beautiful rx7s that made this car (especially the 2nd gen) and start remaking parts for them.. I have an 88′ and i adore this car… But it aggravates me because ppl still love them but cant find the parts they need..

  5. how much wood can a wood chuck chuck if a wood chuck could chuck wood???

  6. I love this car! Don’t change it, start production now! I want one, or two. So sexy! The only thing i ask is that you have two options, standard, or automatic, no tiptronic!! That would make me walk away from a purchase.

  7. the wide body fenders in the front look terrible connecting to the front end and its not sleek enough. I think it should have a lower roof, a better interior from the looks of those hideous seats and a lower back end.

the engine itself should retain its wankel rotary.
i own a 92 3rd gen and i love it to pieces, this car takes everything i love away from the 7′s.

    Just my two cents.

  8. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO I LOVE OLD MAZDA RX-7 PSSSSS. THE BACK PART OF THE CAR IS UGLY :(

  9. We can’t go back sir – only forward!

  10. AAA!!!!!! WHAT THE #!$* IS THAT UNDER THE HOOD!!!!! and i agree i think its ugly i love the old rx7 i have an 88 and i love her to death. but this thing looks horible, it looks like someone crashed there rx7 and drove it through a blob of bondo and this is the result, the least the could do is keep the rotary and the original shape of the rear hatch glass we all love from the 86+.

  11. RX stands for rotary. Mazda should not go away from the 13b renesis for a 4 cylinder hybrid. The RX7 and the RX8 are sportcars not commuters.
