Mazda’s AZ Wagon for Japan is a Box!

Mazda AZ Wagon

What happens when you combine the framework from a Mazda Protege with the boxy nature of a classic Volvo station wagon? You get something along the lines of the Mazda AZ Wagon. Mazda’s AZ is only going to be available in Japan for now, but with similar models (Suzuki Wagon R Stingray for example) selling high numbers, the big M can expect to see good return from this Wagon both here and back east. It’s the perfect car for Japan, utilizing small spaces optimally for three passengers and a driver to travel comfortably through rush hour traffic or on a weekend road trip.

Outside, you have a lot of tight angels but not too pointy – you won’t cut yourself on this wagon. A small scoop covers your rear window, while alloy wheels transport you gently with help from beautifully designed suspension to your destination. Performance is enhanced with the addition of a continuously variable transmission (CVT). CVT delivers more powerful acceleration and better fuel economy, giving all Mazda AZ Wagons perfect environmental and economic performance.

The interior features a silver center panel, and charcoal gray seats and trim, creating a higher quality appearance. A glossy black center panel and leather-wrapped steering wheel gives this Mazda one stylish look on the side, with performance showing off under the hood and design on the outside. Japanese manufacturer’s suggested retail prices is about 924,000 to 1,400,000 Yen. So for now you’ll need to have an AZ Wagon shipped to the states, but hold off because we may see Mazda eventually bring the AZ stateside.
